Technical consulting
Fractional CTO and software consulting from a working CTO
This is for founders without a technical cofounder, teams facing a big architecture decision, and investors who need an honest read on a codebase. You get senior judgment part-time, for as long as it's useful.
The work is done by Sachin Mour. He has 15+ years of building software at Verizon Media, Danske Bank and ISSUU, is CTO at Hexis and led Emblem's platform as CTO. He still writes code, so reviews come with fixes, not just a list of problems.
What a fractional CTO does with you
Technical direction
What to build, buy or skip, and in what order, written down so the team can act on it.
Team and hiring
Job descriptions, technical interviews, and how the team plans, reviews and ships.
Investor and customer questions
Technical due diligence, security questionnaires and SOC 2 preparation.
Hands-on help
Code reviews, the hard part of a migration, or the first version of a tricky service.
Fixed-price reviews
When you need one answer rather than ongoing help, two reviews have a fixed price, with the exact figure in writing before we start.
Architecture review and code audit
One product's architecture and code in two weeks, from $5,000, with risks ranked, a 90-day plan and a walkthrough. How the code audit works.
Technical due diligence for investors
A seed to Series A company's code, architecture, cloud setup and security, reported in 7 to 10 business days, from $7,500. How technical due diligence works.
If you book fractional CTO time or fixes with us within 60 days of a code audit, its fee counts toward them.
Google Cloud consulting
Most of our recent infrastructure work is on Google Cloud. For Hexis we run a multi-region setup: a global load balancer, PostgreSQL in three writable regions, a Valkey cache in each region, private networks and a VPN, all defined in Pulumi. We also set up Emblem's Google Cloud infrastructure. We've written up how we structure Pulumi code, Cloud SQL Enterprise Plus and multi-region PostgreSQL.
We work on AWS too. RYOT's pipeline ran on Lambda and Kubernetes, with Terraform.
What you get
Architecture review and code audit
A written report with risks ranked by impact, a plan for the first few, and fixes for the worst issues if you want them.
Due diligence report
A plain read on technology risk for investors, with the evidence behind it.
AI strategy
The use cases worth building, the approach for each and what it would cost to run.
Cloud plan
A target architecture and migration plan for Google Cloud or AWS.
Decision log
Each architecture decision written down: what we chose, what we rejected and why.
Fractional CTO time
Regular hours each week for decisions, reviews and hiring, billed hourly.
What we've done for clients
Hexis
Rebuilding the platform behind elite sports nutrition
Sachin is Hexis's CTO. He leads four engineers, helped grow the team and re-architect the platform, and is leading the company's SOC 2 audit, which is in progress, while the product grew ARR by more than 300%.

AI due diligence that cites its sources
Sachin led Emblem's platform as CTO: document intelligence over 10M+ pages, the Google Cloud infrastructure and the security work behind SOC 2.

From a free call to the end of the second week.
A free 30-minute call
Tell us about the decision in front of you, or what worries you about the system. We'll say whether a review, an audit or ongoing CTO time fits best.
A fixed price, or hourly
After the call we send a fixed-price quote for a clear scope, or agree on hourly work at $100 to $150 an hour. Fractional CTO time is billed hourly. The two one-off reviews have fixed prices and their own pages: the code audit from $5,000 and technical due diligence from $7,500.
The first two weeks
- We get access to the code, cloud accounts and docs, and talk to the people who build and run the system.
- We trace the critical paths: data, deploys, security and cost.
- You get a written report and a call to walk through it. For fractional CTO work, it becomes the first plan we agree on.
Frequently asked questions
What is a fractional CTO?
A senior technical leader who works with you part-time. You get the decisions, hiring help and oversight a CTO provides, without a full-time hire. It suits companies before their first full-time CTO, or between two.
How much time does a fractional CTO need each week?
It depends on the stage. Some weeks need a few hours of reviews and decisions, and a launch or a fundraise needs more. We agree on a range up front and adjust as you go.
How much does a fractional CTO cost?
Our fractional CTO time is $100 to $150 an hour, billed hourly, so a day a week comes to about $3,500 to $5,200 a month. Our fractional CTO guide compares that with market rates and a full-time hire.
Do you offer one-off reviews?
Yes, two at a fixed price: an architecture review and code audit in two weeks, from $5,000, and technical due diligence for investors in 7 to 10 business days, from $7,500. If you book fractional CTO time or fixes with us within 60 days of the audit, its fee counts toward them.
Do you only work on Google Cloud?
No. Most of our recent work is on Google Cloud, and RYOT's pipeline ran on AWS Lambda and Kubernetes. We'll review whatever you run.
Will you write a report, or fix things too?
Either. You can take the report to your own team, or have us fix the top issues at the same rates.
